Info: If any one artist conquered all the diverse facets of the country music business and made his name a legend that man was Roy Claxton Acuff. Not only did he establish himself as the King Of Country Music in the 1930s and '40s he became a renowned champion of traditional values in country music after becoming the leading attraction on WSM's hallowed Grand Ole Opry concerts and broadcasts. He also co-founded the first music publishing company in Nashville the massively successful Acuff-Rose and his own record company Hickory. In 1962 he was the first living performer to be elected to the Country Music Hall Of Fame and he enjoyed an unparalled career in which he was still active almost to the month of death at the age of 89 in 1992. This 101 track 4CD set includes all of Roy Acuff's important recordings from 1936 to 1950 with a 40 page illustrated booklet containing his life story and a discography
