Having written every song herself - with the exception of a fine new rendering of Leon Ware's Wanna Be Where You Are, sung with her good friend Paul Weller - she enlists the help of producers Colin Walker and Mark Edwards to create a superbly crafted album with stunning musicianship and outstanding vocal arrangements. Incognito horn players Nichol Thomson and Dominic Glover, and sax player Ben Castle, who co-produced Carleen's prior album, play their part in giving the album an uplifting, vibrant feel, especially on tracks such as My Door Is Open and Gotta Believe In The Future. Jocelyn Brown contributes guest lead vocals alongside Carleen on the powerful Parting The Waters. She may have taken exploratory musical detours in the past, but Carleen is firmly back in the soul arena and the result is there for everyone to hear. She believes the album represents “the mature me, the woman who survived the disappointments with a passionate smile of joyful restitution”.
