Unlike several of the other big names of Country Western Swing and Hillbilly Music celebrated by previous Properboxes and Proper Pairs releases Eddy Arnold's life has been essentially a happy one his career has for the most part been adroitly managed (both by his level-headed self and for many crucial years by one 'Colonel Tom Parker' who when laid off by Arnold fought back with Elvis Presley) and most pointedly his story is one of colossal commercial success. Other country legends may have been more pioneering more musically adventurous more personally quirky more fundamentally influencial. Eddy Arnold kept it simple
