45s did not come get much more danceable in 1973 than guitarist DONALD AUSTIN's Eastbound 45 Crazy Legs. Somehow both it and its eponymously titled long-playing counterpart evaded any contact with a UK release schedule back in the day, but here it is, a mere 33 years later and still sounding as fresh and funky as the day it was first minted. A much-prized item among collectors of tough instrumental black music, the album features a mixture of neat Austin originals and his fab takes on songs by his (then) fellow label mates, George Clinton's Funkadelic and the Detroit Emeralds. If you've ever ‘Felt The Need' to own a copy if this great album, but have been dissuaded from doing so by the immodest price that that a vinyl original commands, you need deny yourself no further.
