Unorthodox albino (hence his nickname) Maghreb-Jewish singer born in Oran Algeria Influenced by Cheikh Larbi performed with Cheikh Zouzou. Worked in Paris in late 1930's; returned to Oran And became big star from '43 onwards. Toured Morocco & Algeria. Returned to live in Paris in '46 becoming a very popular cabaret performer with his blend of traditional Arab And French Chanson mixing with celebrities recording etc. Died in 1999.
