Artist: Earl Bostic Title: Complete Quintet Recordings

Details: Admired by his peers but snubbed by serious jazz afficionados because of his populist approach Earl Bostic is reckoned to have sold more records than any other alto Sax player. These 1963 quintet sessions coming at the end of his career unusually placed a jazz sensibility above commercial considerations And the pulsating bluesy jazz that was laid down is the result of the spontaneous approach shared by Bostic Richard Groove Holmes (organ) & Joe Pass (gtr). Originally issued as two LPs : Jazz as I Feel It÷ And A New Sound÷ with drumming duties shared between Shelley Manne Charles Blackwell & Earl Palmer. Jimmy Bond / Al McKibbon on bass.
Label: Lonehill Jazz
