The album presents ‘Metamorphoses’, ‘Phantasy Quartet’, ‘Insect Pieces’ and ‘Temporal Variations’. In 2007 it was awarded with the ‘Opus d’Or’ by ‘Opus Haute Dé?nition’ magazine. Born in 1957 to a family of musicians, Alexei Utkin began studying piano at the Moscow Central Music School but changed to the oboe when he was ten. The oboe is one of the most capricious and self- willed musical instruments, but in the hands of Alexei Utkin it is remarkably obedient.
