Though largely forgotten in the 20th century, Rinck was one of the best known and respected composers of church music in Germany at the time of his death. Today Rinck is remembered primarily for his compositions for the organ, but he also composed many strikingly original choral works, as well as works for piano and even some chamber music. Above all, Rinck was a dedicated composer for the church, stating that music for worship should be earnest, and appropriate for the dignity of the church service. On this recording, the distinguished music scholar and conductor, Ulrich Stotze once again has lovingly restored and prepared his own performing editions to bring these forgotten miniature masterpieces to life.
