Details: 'Gene Clark made some of the greatest rock cum folk cum country music of the Beatles' generation. He was at the wedding of electric rock'n'roll to acoustic folk traditions country and western instrumentation and modal jazz riffing which gave the world its first taste of psychedelia. At the bare minimum he wrote half a dozen classic songs whose lyrics and melodies will live as long as guitars are strummed and voices allowed to sing freely.' So says Long Ryders Coal Porters leader and Gram Parsons biographer Sid Griffin in his extensive and intense liner notes to this 24-track 75-minute anthology CD of the most important 10 years in the illustrious career of the late Gene Clark which spans the folk-rock Byrds (original and reformed) the soul-bluegrass Dillard & Clark Expedition the country-rock Flying Burrito Brothers and the solo Clark in three distinct creative periods. As such it is a companion-piece to Raven's recent acclaimed Gram Parsons anthology WARM EVENINGS
