Already recognised as one of the best European double bass players after his remarkable jazz activity in the '80s, Javier Colina (born in Pamplona in 1960) began to make a name for himself in the early '90s with concerts and recordings in the burgeoning flamenco jazz scene. A multi-faceted musician, he has toured and recorded extensively with various ensembles. On this, his first album in his own name, he presents an atypical septet line-up playing pieces that are grounded in jazz spirit with a Cuban son rhythm. Special guest throughout is Cuban tres player Pancho Amat.
