An amazing recently discovered complete performance by the John Coltrane Quintet featuring Eric Dolphy recorded in Helsinki on November 22 1961 - all tracks are previously unissued on any format. Coltrane & Dolphy are on superb inventive form - backed by a remarkable rhythm section McCoy Tyner Reggie Workman & Elvin Jones - with material including the Coltrane classics Impressions÷ & Blue Train÷ as well as a 20-minute plus version of My Favourite Things÷. As a bonus to this newly found performance there is also a true Coltrane rarity the April 1 1960 Dnsseldorf concert - which should have marked Coltrane's last gig with Miles Davis - but Miles was unable to attend the date for unknown reasons And so 'Trane performed alone backed by Miles' outstanding rhythm section Wynton Kelly on piano Paul Chambers on bass And Jimmy Cobb on drums.
