This special digipak Gambit release presents bebop trumpet master Kenny Dorham's quintet on two classic albums as a leader both featuring Jackie McLean. The complete albums featured are Matador÷ (New York 1962) with Bobby Timmons (p) Teddy Smith (b) J.C. Moses (d) - originally issued on United Artists; And Inta Somethin'÷ (1961) ). Live at The Jazz Workshop San Francisco with Walter Bishop Jr (p) Leroy Vinnegar (b) Art Taylor (d) - originally issued on Pacific Jazz. Dorham was present at many of the key watersheds of modern jazz Charlie Parker's band Billy Eckstine's band with Dizzy Gillespie And was the trumpeter in the first Jazz Messengers line-up. In the latter years of his career he was often based in Europe. He died at only 48 in 1972
