Special digipak release of recordings made by Bill Evans as a sideman in the groups ofDick Garcia Joe Puma Tony Scott AndJimmy Knepper - all recorded in 1956-57 in New York City. As well as the above four leaders AndEvans himself these sessions also includedGene Quill (as)Jerry Bruno Oscar Pettiford Les GrinageTeddy Kotick (b); Camille MorinPaul Motian Lennie McBrowne &Dannie Richmond (d). After graduating from college in 1950 Evans had started gigging withMundell Lowe &Red Mitchell before joining the Herbie Fields band. Following a stint in the army from 1951 to 1954 he worked with the Jerry Wald band before joining Tony Scott's quartet - when he really started getting noticed by jazz enthusiasts And other musicians. These 16 tracks help to show why. The rest as they say is history."
