Issued for the first time ever this DVD documents a Bill Evans Trio concert given for TV broadcast in Rome December 1979. It was barely a year before Evans' death but he agreed to undertake a long international tour with dates in North & South America And Europe. The pianist had been devastated by the death of his brother Harry that year And had become even more dependent on drugs And alchohol - yet his playing was still of the highest order given even greater spirituality by his grief. He is accompanied by his then regular bassist And drummer -Marc Johnson AndJoe LaBarbera respectively. Another Rome concert on this tour has become available on CD but this DVD is a completely different performance And has never been released in any format. TOTAL TIME : 44 :30 m. COLOR/STEREO
