Excellent 17 track anthology by the Cape Verdean songstress Cesaria Evora who having gained recognition in Portugal And France in the late 1980's (when she was already in her late 40's) gradually became an international star through the early 1990's - especially in Europe And North America. Her smoky bluesy Vocals are in the 'morna' style of her home islands And blends the feel of Portuguese fados with traditional West African rhythms Brazilian influences. She has recorded over 15 albums - including 'Sao Vicente' in 2001 which included guest appearances by Caetano Veloso Bonnie Raitt And Orquesta Aragon
