Artist: Candido Fabre Title: Make Poverty History Concerts, Edinburgh

Details: In 2005 Candido Fabre and his 14 piece band headlined two Edinburgh concerts : The Fairtrade Gathering World Music Concert and the Make Poverty History concert, the following day. The aim of both events was to help bring awareness to the meeting of world leaders at the 2005 G8 summit, where they would discuss the financial and political issues facing so many of the worlds’ poorest countries. The footage from these prodigious events is featured on this full length DVD, as well as scenes and interviews with Candido in his home town of Manzanillo, Cuba, where he speaks of his gratitude to have been accepted to play at an event, which symbolises so many issues he himself feels so strongly about. Cándido Fabré is considered one of Cuba¹s greatest singers and composers. He was the songwriter, arranger and main vocalist with the great Orquesta Original de Manzanillo before forming his own band in 1993 - featuring some of the very best Cuban charanga musicians.
