Berlin based ensemble Fayvish bring together the genres of singer/songwriter, punk, pop and traditional Yiddish songs. Since June 2007, Fabian Schnedler and his group have assembled traditional Yiddish music of the 20th century, including distinguished lyricists like Peretz Markish, Beyle Schaechter-Gottesman, Morris Rosenfeld and Peretz Miranski, and put them in a new context.

Here they present 13 contemporary Yiddish songs, dealing with farewells, revolutionary rage, the “dirty town” New York, and more. The band’s inherent minimalistic sound has been emphasized by some special guests: Alan Bern (keyboards, melodica, accordion), Paul Brody (trumpet) and Zoé Cartier (violoncello).
