Details:
Frifot are one of Sweden’s most respected traditional groups with each member of the trio a leading musician in their own right : Lena Willemark (vocals, violin, flute); Ale Möller (mandola, flutes, harp, vocals); and Per Gudmundson (violin, bagpipe, vocals). The band was founded in 1987, released their debut album in 1991, on Caprice. They have also recorded for ECM and more recently Amigo. Their previous CD, "Sluring" from 2003, was awarded a Swedish Grammy as well as the independent Manifest Prize for best folk album. Throughout the 20 tracks, their own compositions sit side by side with a wealth of traditional pieces they re-work : polkas, hymns, waltzes, marching songs, ballads & dances - all played with great virtuosity and cohesion, but in a stripped down, rootsy style.
