Info: This is no historic recording although the technology required for this recording v which took place exactly 100 years ago v had been perfected. The Welte-Mignon Reproducing Piano is a modified piano fitted with a sophisticated recording and reproduction mechanism and with its invention the opportunity arose for famous pianist s to record their performances for posterity. A device created by Welte was connected to the piano which when the keys were depressed recorded the artist's performance by punching holes into a roll of paper (rather similar to a punch-card). Later the roll was placed into the device and one could listen to the recording while watching the keys moving up and down as if by magic. This was a mechanical sensation. The Tacet label took upon itself the admirable and difficult task of getting such historical rolls to resound in splendid audiophile quality. For the present new recording' of piano music composed
