Details: Haydn composed The Seven Last Words of Our Saviour on the Cross for the Good Friday services in C¯diz. He later wrote that +the challenge of composing seven consecutive orchestral Adagios each about ten minutes in length without tiring the listener was by no means an easy task+. And yet he achieved a perfect balance between a musically profound setting And a form of expression which could be immediately appreciated by the general public. The Carmina Quartet was founded in 1984 And earned initial recognition through their spectacular results at a number of international competitions. The Schola Romana Lucernensis was founded in 1971; the ensemble specializes in the interpretation of Gregorian chant in close collaboration with the choral director of the Abbey of Einsiedeln Pater Roman Bannwart
