Hugo Reyne continues his acclaimed Lully series with this sixth instalment claiming to offer the very first French operas : the incomplete 'Pomone' with music by Robert Cambert And Lully's first venture 'Les Fetes de L'Amour et de Bacchus'. As well as conducting his excellent Simphonie du Marais And a talented cast Hugo Reyne writes in the booklet an entertaining tale of skulduggery in French Court circles revealing how Cambert's librettist Pierre Perrin who had cunningly obtained a Royal Monopoly for his new form of spectacle (Opera) had to sell it to Lully in order to obtain his release from jail! These are first complete recordings of both works.
