This CD opens with the remaining tracks recorded during a concert at New York's Town Hall. On Mellotone Red Norvo switched back to the dryer tone of xylophone although he had mostly played vibraphone since the mid-forties. Norvo's tracks for Capitol are extremely varied - he participated in the funny And bewildering change-your-instrument date on piano. Both tracks include short solos byBenny Carter on tenor sax
