Parker is featured on this 21-track Jazz Factory CD live with three big bands Stan Kenton Woody Herman & Joe Timer. These are Bird's only existing recordings with Stan Kenton And Woody Herman compiled for the first time complete on one CD And also includes the complete You Go to My Head÷ with the Herman band for the first time ever. Although he is best remembered for his outstanding quintet sides with Dizzy Gillespie Miles Davis Bud Powell And others Charlie Parker had extensive big band experience dating back to the earliest years of his career. This CD compiles Parker's three main live performances with big bands playing tunes he never recorded commercially And backed by the fat sound of large orchestras. The 3 Kenton tracks (including an intro by Stan himself) were recorded at the Civic Auditorium Portland Oregon February 25 1954; the 10 Herman tracks at the Municipal Arena Kansas City July 22 1951; And the 8 Timer numbers at Club Kavakos Washington D. C. February 22
