Sonny Rollins has remained one of the true jazz giants ranking with Coleman Hawkins Lester Young and John Coltrane as one of the all-time great tenor saxophonists. This Proper Introduction features 23 tracks ranging from his recording debut with Babs Gonzales in 1949 through recording dates with J.J. Johnson and Bud Powell the same year; and material from his first sessions with Miles Davis he has gone on to perform from 1951-53.
