Mid-price remastered 24 track 2 CD compilation gathering together all the recordings cut by Sonny Rollins for the Prestige label between 1949 And 1952 as he grew And developed into one of the great saxophonists And key figures of modern jazz. On the first session in 1949 he is joined by Kenny Dorham (tp) J.J. Johnson And MJQ's John Lewis; the 2nd session from January 1951 is with Miles Davis Bennie Green John Lewis Percy Heath & Roy Haynes. In October of the same year we have recordings again with Miles And mainly Miles' compositions but this time joined by Jackie McLean Art Blakey etc. The last date on this set is from December of the same year backed again by Art Blakey plus Kenny Drew & Percy Heath with Rollins' growing confidence as composer as well as soloist becoming readily apparent
