Brilliant young violinist Diego Tosi certainly offers an eclectic choice of repertoire, for his SOLSTICE recordings: a debut disc of Sarasate was followed by a homage to Berio, including works by Xenakis and Boulez. Then came a Ravel CD, and now this "Tribute to Giacinto Scelsi", which includes two world première recordings (the violin sonata, and Divertimento No. 4). Tosi uses his considerable virtuosity to demonstrate different facets of Scelsi’s varying styles, and this disc should add to the growing interest in a true 20th century ‘maverick’ composer.
