To put it simply Roosevelt Sykes lived a lot and thoroughly enjoyed his life. He was born in 1906 in Arkansas and was raised in St.Louis a piano town if there ever was one. His first excursion into the studio was in 1929 when he cut the massively influent - Sykes Known as The Honeydripper became hugely successful on the tour circuit playing all over America as well as most of Europe and although he cut records the whole of his life the best and most influential come from his early sessions which interestingl - The Honeydripper and 44 Blues are all here as well as many other varied recordings. With excellent mastering good design and thoughtful sleevenotes Catfish bring this Barrelhouse master kicking and screaming into the next century
