Another uproarious helping of good time, mostly New Orleans-recorded R&B and rocknroll from the vaults of Ace Records of Jackson, Mississippi. The first dozen tracks were released by Ace almost 30 years ago as the vinyl volume 2 in this series. For the CD generation weve added a further dozen of the best sides from Johnny Vincents Ace catalogue. Mastered mostly from fresh transfers of original US Ace master tapes and sounding better than ever, most of this material has been unavailable on CD for ten years and some tracks have never been on legit CD at all. Extensively annotated and with a generous smattering of label shots and contemporary ephemera, this happy hour of golden age rhythm and blues upholds the high standard of volume one and still leaves plenty more delights in store for the remaining three volumes, to be reissued during 2011.
