Info: Concerto for Cello And Orchestra No. 1 in A minor Op. 46 (1876). Concerto for Cello And Orchestra No. 2 in B minor Op. 50 (1880). Marie Hallynck (vc. ) L'Orchestre National de Belgique/Theodor Guschlbauer. Like Paganini from the previous generation Vieuxtemps was a globetrotting violin virtuoso who also composed much music for his instrument some of it still widely performed And recorded. His two cello concertos are much rarer (there is only one other available recording) which is surprising when one listens to these committed performances. The music is as charming And well-crafted as the unusual CD presentation making an altogether delightful disc.
