Details: Ben Waters is an extraordinarily gifted blues/boogie/rock 'n' roll pianist. Whilst barely in his early '20s, he played with the likes of Mick Jagger, Pete Townsend, Shakin' Stevens and the late, Florida blues harp legend Rock Bottom. Ben debuts on Hypertension with an outstanding new recording of some hot New Orleans blues and rock 'n' roll style boogie woogie. Accompanied by his soul mate Richard Hymas, Ben has composed some of the most original and ground-breaking material that has been heard for years. His natural rocking exuberance combined with Richard’s sensitive (and sometimes controversial) lyrics has given a new slant to the boogie genre. Jools Holland said in Mojo (January 2007) "Boogie Woogie is alive and well! Ben Waters - who incidentally is PJ Harvey’s cousin - has got the touch and the feel for it. Half the secret of boogie woogie is knowing the tempo at which to play and not making things too fast, and Ben really understands that. I saw him years ago and I thought he was great so ended up playing with him. He really is a great talent and someone to look out for."
